Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Paro International Airport and Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

The landing and the taking off of the plane in itself is an amazing experience. As Bhutan is mountainous country the view of mount Jomolhari as the clouds disperse is a magical experience and especially if you are flying from New Delhi and Kathmandu to Paro, you can enjoy an amazing view of Mount Everest. You will need to manage a window seat on the left side of the plane on your flight to Paro. The whole landing experience is a like a roller coaster ride on steroid. Once you land, your assigned tour guide and driver will welcome you and take you to your hotel for a quick fresh air and some quick energizing snacks. Once you are refreshed you will hike towards the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The hiking trail will take you through a diverse forest until you reach the monastery. After completing the challenging hike, you will be taken back to you hotel where you will rest and stay the night. In the Evening you can choose to stroll around Paro town and take a hot stone bath which often is deemed as the perfect way to unwind an exhausting day.

Day 2: Drive to Punakha

After an early breakfast, you will be driven towards Punakha. At about an hour drive from Thimphu, you will stop at Dochula pass for a quick break and to enjoy the scenery at the pass. The pass is considered one of the most picturesque passes in Bhutan and is also one of the few motor-able passes. The pass is adorned with 108 whitewashed stupas. You will also visit the infamous fertility temple or Chimi Lhakhang in the beautiful ancient village of Sopsokha. After visiting the temple you will continue to drive for another hour where the picturesque Punakha valley awaits your arrival. At Punakha, you will visit the spectacular Punakha Dzong. After some sightseeing you will be taken out for lunch. After a sumptuous lunch you will drive to Thimphu where you will spend your night.

 Day 3: Morning Sightseeing in Thimphu and Depart after Lunch.

After breakfast, you will be taken around Thimphu city for sightseeing. You will visit popular attractions in Thimphu such as the Statue of Buddha Dordenma, located in Kuensel Phodrang at the top of a hill overlooking the city about 15 minutes drive from the main town.  The statue is about 51.5 meters tall making it the tallest sitting statue of Buddha Shakyamuni.  Other popular attractions include:  The National Memorial Chorten which was built in the memory of the late 3rd king of Bhutan. You will also visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, Jungshi Traditional Paper Factory, Bhutan Postal Museum, the 17th century fortress and many such exciting attractions. After sightseeing you will have lunch and drive towards Paro valley. Once at Paro you will be dropped off at the airport for your departure.
