Tour Booking

1. When is the best time to visit Bhutan?

Bhutan receives majority of the tourists in the spring months of March, April and May and fall months of September, October and November as major festivals are celebrated in these period. Hence these months are considered peak travelling season and a minimum daily tariff of USD 250 per person per night is charged.
However if tourists are not particularly interested in the festivals and plan on just exploring Bhutan, we suggest you to plan your trip during the lean period. The minimum daily tariff during the lean season is only USD 200 per person per night.

2. What is the weather like in Bhutan?

Weather in Bhutan varies in different region. The climate ranges from sub-tropical in the lower altitude to alpine in the north. Southern and Eastern Bhutan enjoys a subtropical climate and are generally warmer and humid. The temperature in the capital city of Thimphu ranges from -2.5 degrees Celsius in winter to 25 degrees Celsius in summer.

3. What is minimum daily tariff?

Minimum Daily Tariff is a tourism regulation set by the Royal Government of Bhutan. In order to promote high value low impact sustainable tourism, an all-inclusive daily tariff is levied to all tourists visiting the country. The daily tariff during the peak season (Mar, Apr, May, Sep, Oct and Nov) is USD 250 per person per night and USD 200 per person per night during the lean season (Dec, Jan, Feb, Jun, Jul, Aug)

4. What flights are available and which airports can I depart for Bhutan?

Only Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines operate an inbound flight to Paro International Airport in Paro Bhutan from India (New Delhi, Calcutta, Guwahati and Bagdogra) Dhaka Bangladesh, Bangkok Thailand and Singapore.

5. Can I visit Bhutan on my own? Is it mandatory to book my trip through a local tour operator?

Unless you are a citizen of Bangladesh, India or Maldives, the Government regulation mandates that you must book your trip through a local tour operator.

6. Are international tour agencies allowed to arrange my trip to Bhutan? Will it cheaper?

All international tour agencies work in partnership with a local tour operator. Even if you book your trip through an international tour agency, all your Visa processing, reservation confirmation will be handled by the local tour operator. It is very likely that most international tour agencies will charge a service fee and a markup on the price quotation offered by the local tour operator. We recommend booking your trip directly with a local tour operator to get the best rate.

7. Do I need a VISA to visit Bhutan? How do I apply for a tourist Visa?

With the exception of Indian, Bangladeshi and Maldivian, all tourists visiting Bhutan must apply for a tourist visa prior to their arrival to Bhutan. Tourist Visa can be processed through a local tour operator.
You will need to submit a duly filled Visa form, scanned copy of your passport (with at least a validity of 6 months). The Tourism Council of Bhutan approves your Visa upon the full payment for your trip.

Hotel Booking

1. Are the room rates per room or per person?

The room rates displayed are per room. However, rates can differ according to the number of guests chosen. It is important that you enter the accurate number of guests while searching for your rooms.

2. Are taxes included in the room rates?

Yes, the room rates displayed includes all charges including taxes (sales tax and service charge).

3. What type of bed will I get with my room?

Before making your booking, all rooms will display what type of bed it has (eg. Twin, double, etc.) You need to specifically select the room with the type of bed you want.

4. Is breakfast included in the room rate?

If breakfast is included in the room rate, it will be displayed to you while booking. If no breakfast is mentioned, it is not included in the room rate.

5. I have booked and paid for the room. When will it be confirmed?

Once you have successfully paid for your booking, your room is instantly booked for you. You will receive an email containing the hotel voucher within 10 minutes. You can also download the hotel voucher any time from your My Bookings section.

6. How do I check-in to the hotel?

You can print or show an electronic copy of the hotel voucher to the hotel reception staff upon check-in. The hotel will verify your booking and show you to your room.

7. How do I pay for my booking?

Right now, we only accept VISA and MasterCard credit cards and debit cards. The currencies accepted are Indian Rupee and US Dollar.

8. How do I cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking from your account by going to My Bookings section. Once you have cancelled your booking, you will receive an email confirmation.

9. What is the cancellation fee/policy?

Each hotel has their own cancellation policy. Before payment, you will be shown the cancellation policy for the room. Please note that, a minimum of 3.5% of the booking fee will be charged as cancellation fee irrespective of the hotel’s cancellation policy. This fee is charged as processing fees by the bank and payment gateway. Eg: Even if the hotel provides a free cancellation for your room, you will still be charged 3.5% and the rest refunded to your source of payment.

10. How long does it take for cancellation refunds?

After you have cancelled your booking, it will take up to 7 working days for the refund to be processed and credited to your source of payment. If you do not see your refund in your account statement after that period, please contact customer support.

11. How to amend your booking?

You can amend your booking from your account by going to My Booking section. You will need to write to the hotel and inform of your booking changes by clicking on the LEAVE A MESSAGE button. Please refer to the terms of amendment in the terms and conditions page.

Account & Security

1. Are my credit card details safe?

All communication between you and BookMyTour.bt is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. Further, BookMyTour.bt uses a secure third party payment gateway from Bank of Bhutan to process all card payments. You will be redirected to their payment page during payment. None of your credit card details are ever stored on BookMyTour.bt's servers.

2. I cannot login to my account. What to do?

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by going to the Password Reset page. An email containing a secret link will be sent to your registered email address. You can set a new password by following that link.
